Go Pink!

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month the staff at AV Browne felt the need to get involved and support this worthwhile cause.

Now us being us, we are going the whole hog and are devoting the week commencing 26th October to AV Browne ‘Go Pink Week!’ Starting on Monday there will be lots of ways for everyone to get involved and have a little fun (with a pink theme of course).

To kick it off Monday will be Go Pink day. Come in and see the AV Browners dressed in pink – yes the boys too. Tuesday is our ‘Big Pink Pub Quiz.’ There will also be a raffle with some rather fantastic prizes. If you have a sweet tooth then Wednesday is your day. Swing by our office and treat yourself to one of the many cupcakes that we will be selling (Pink icing of course). Thursday is all about pampering. For one day only there will be a nail salon set up in our offices. For only £5 you can get yourself some lovely (pink) digits. To finish up the week on Friday we are having a pink Cava reception. This is just to say a big thank you to everyone and to reveal the final amount raised.

Go on – get your pink on!

Student Workshops kick off

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Term-time may be coming to an end for most students, but for nearly 40 students participating in the first ever PANI & UU workshops the celebrations will have to wait a few weeks.

The PANI workshops have been set up to give up and coming talent an insight into what life is like working in a creative agency. Six of Northern Ireland’s leading agencies have signed up to help mentor the students through a creative brief set by PANI. Over the next 3-4 weeks the students will be required to come up with an advertising campaign to raise awareness of why wearing a helmet when skiing or snowboarding could save your life. At the beginning of June, the students will have to ‘pitch’ their idea to an independent panel of judges and the winners will be announced later that month. There will be an exhibition of all the work at an award ceremony on the 9th June at UU Belfast.

The AV Browne student team is:
Sara Madden, Lauren Donnelly, Tierna Magee, John Wynne and Ashleigh Grant.

Scuba Steve

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Friday the 30th January was the annual SOS RNLI Awareness Day. In recognition of the fact that the RNLI is our charity of the year we decided to have a little go at making our Creative Director Lifeboat Crew material - a tough ask at the best of times. We borrowed a full in-shore Lifeboat Crew kit and, in the sweltering heat of our studio, our resident ‘hero’ attempted to squirm his way into it. Nice.

PANI 2009

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Windsor Arnold, Operations Director of the AV Browne Group, has been re-elected to the PANI (Publicity Association of Northern Ireland) board for the 2009/10 season. The elections were held at Ten Square on January 29th and the (friendly) competition was fierce.

For the past year, Windsor and UUJ have been working closely for PANI to initiate exciting new seminar and workshop series linking promising student teams from CAM and VisCom with successful agencies in Northern Ireland. The students will hear from industry leaders about their specific markets, current and future trends and learn about essential skills agencies hope to see in graduating students.  They will then be mentored by each agency over the space of a month and assigned to work on a campaign briefed in by PANI.

Keep an eye out in Belfast Telegraphs business section over the coming months for regular updates on the seminars and workshops.
